Find Your Place in Canada with PNPs

Looking for a cozy corner in Canada?

The Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) are your ticket to finding the perfect province to call home. Each place has its own special recipe for welcoming newcomers who match what they’re looking for in terms of skills and potential. It’s a personalized way to weave into the Canadian tapestry, right where you're needed most.

Your Pathway to a Canadian Home in the Province of Your Choice

Did you know Canada’s big family of provinces and territories gets to pick who they invite over?

That’s right! Through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), most places in Canada can nominate folks like you who want to live, work, and play in their unique corner of the country. Nunavut and Quebec march to the beat of their own drum, with Quebec having its special way of choosing skilled folks for its vibrant communities.

Since kicking off in 1998, the PNP has been like a welcome mat rolled out across Canada, encouraging people to make their homes outside the usual hotspots of Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia. This has brought new energy and growth to places like the Prairie provinces (hello, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba) and the scenic Atlantic provinces (shoutout to New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador).

And guess what? Many PNP streams are buddies with the federal Express Entry system, offering something called 'enhanced nominations.' If you snag one of these, you’re practically packing your bags for Canada, thanks to a hefty boost to your application score. Plus, these nominations can fast-track your move, aiming to get you settled in about six months. Not the Express Entry route? No problem. There are 'base' streams too, where you apply directly to the province and, if they give you the nod, the federal government steps in to get your permanent residency sorted.

From Alberta’s mountains to the ocean views of Nova Scotia, each province has its unique charm waiting for you.

How To Apply?

Well, it depends on the provincial candidate program you are applying for. This process can be done online through Express Entry or on paper.

Paper-based process:
The whole process includes two stages:

1

Province Selections

At first, you need to find out any specific province or territory to live in Canada. Check the eligibility criteria and then ask the province for a nomination.

2

Your Nomination to Permanent Residence

After being nominated by a province, you're on your way to applying for permanent residency, which might take 20-24 months.

3

The Express Entry Invite: Earning Your 600 Points

Provinces can boost your Express Entry profile with a significant 600 points, making you a top candidate for invitation.

4

Creating Your Express Entry Profile: The First Step

Begin your journey by crafting an Express Entry profile that highlights your skills and aspirations.

5

PNP Application on Draw Day

Stay alert for draw days when provinces send out invitations to apply to their PNP.

6

Awaiting Your Nomination

After submitting your PNP application, watch your email and Express Entry profile for the nomination decision.

7

ITA for Permanent Residency

Hold tight for the Express Entry draw that could grant you an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency.

8

Applying for PR

With your ITA in hand, submit your application for permanent residency, potentially securing your new life in Canada in just 6-8 months under the PNP program.

You can apply in two ways, either:

1

Option 1

Contact the province to request a nomination under a fast-track entry flow. When nominated by the province, create your Quick Entry Profile to display your nomination.

2

Option 2

First create your quick entry profile to display any particular province that interests you. When the province sends you a “Notice of Interest,” contact them directly.

1

No matter how you apply, you must be eligible for that province. Also, submit your express entry profile with minimal criteria. Once you are invited to apply, submit your electronic application to IRCC.
